The response by men and women to erotic stimuli is very different. In his legendary study of sexual behavior Alfred Kinsey noted that far more men than women were turned on by pornography and erotic material then women. Kinsey recorded that 54% of men said they had been aroused by photographs, drawings or paintings of nude figures compared to only 12% of women.
The same was true when it came to erotic stories with only 14% of women saying that they were turned on by erotic stories against nearly half of the men questioned. In fact many more women than men were said to be offended.
